If you are an art history enthusiast, this tour will definitely meet your expectations. The Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest is home to some of the most significant European artwork dating back to the Gothic and early Renaissance eras and artifacts belonging to classical antiquity and Ancient Egypt. The artifacts from ancient Egypt are sectioned into 3 parts, with the wall colors selected carefully to represent each section. The mummy Falcon, Ibis Bird, and the papyrus scroll inked with magical script will leave you intrigued.
European Art Through the Eras
Discover the history of European art, starting with works from the Renaissance era like Orley’s Portrait of Emperor Charles V, and Biblical works such as Salome with the Head of St. John the Baptist. The wondrous work of Artemisia Gentileschi, Jael and Sisera, will awe you with its attention to detail and the naturalism of the female figure. One of the very few female artists of the Baroque era, she has strong representations of female protagonists throughout her works. Marvel at the 18th-century works of artists like Canaletto and Jacob Philipp Hackert, the scenic views painted with utmost precision, reflecting qualities of Impressionism.
Witness the portraits of Hungarian aristocrats by Adam Manyki, and realistic works by Jakob Bogdani, and learn more about the world of Fine Arts with your 7-language audio guide that you can avail of with a ticket upgrade!
