Hawaii for foodies

The show was so amazing. The whole experience was great. We loved shopping from local artisans and the food was delicious!

The organization of this Luau was lacking. For having a premium ticket, there seemed to be little guidance. There was nothing directing us to go straight to the restaurant for dinner, and once we got there, the restaurant staff was separate from the Luau crew. Dinner was excellent at the restaurant, and the staff was very attentive, but after dinner, we were told to wait to be taken to the luau, which felt disjointed. We arrived late and ended up at a round table, making it hard for some guests to see the performance. The show was amazing, and we enjoyed it a lot. Also, for premium seating, we got a flower lei, while others got Puka Shell and Nut leis, which you can actually take home. Overall, a spectacular performance, but the logistics could use some work.

I was having lunch at the Gaylord and noticed they also host luaus. I had been wanting to book one, so I signed up that night. The Plantation owner's slots were already filled, so I went for the general booking. Honestly, I didn’t have high hopes for the Luau, but I was totally wrong! There was hardly any wait to check in, but even if there had been, they had a two-person musical duo entertaining the folks in line. Once we got our tickets, we entered the venue and were greeted with leis for everyone! Totally unexpected. The local artisans were fantastic and super affordable; I picked up a new ring and some delicious caramels. While waiting for dinner, we were entertained by hula dancers and got to join in - so much fun! The buffet was wonderful and plentiful. The main show was spectacular!! It was a story that was easy to follow and the singing was fantastic. The fire dancers were mesmerizing. I have no complaints. This was amazing. In fact, a lady at our table said this Luau was the best she's ever attended. This was my first, and I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in Kauai.

Luau Kalamaku was one of the best parts of my trip. The food was tasty and the show was fantastic. There were a bunch of booths to shop at.

Definitely worth the cost. The performance was stunning. It was a blast getting all dressed up with my husband and they had photographers to snap and print your photos on the spot. They also had a fantastic little art market on the Friday night we were there. The food was good. The show and sound quality were top-notch. Really beautiful. I wish I could grab a DVD of the story/performance; it was that incredible. It felt like being a guest at a really well-organized wedding, would suggest it to a friend.

The Kilohana Plantation is absolutely beautiful, and the staff at Luau Kalamaku do a fantastic job setting the mood for the evening and making you feel welcome. The music was enjoyable, the drinks were amazing, and the food was delicious. After dinner, we were treated to one of the best live performances I've ever seen. The dancers, singers, and musicians are masters at their craft and really draw you into the story. I can't recommend this event enough. Next time you're in Kauai, definitely check it out!

I thought the Luau was fantastic and will definitely recommend it to everyone visiting Kauai. The staff was super friendly, and it was cool to see that the servers were also part of the performance. Overall, we had a really good time, and while the food wasn’t Michelin star level, it was good. The drinks were awesome, especially the Mai-Tai, plus they make their own rum.

We had a wonderful time at the luau. The staff was friendly and informative. The vendors were awesome! The performances were great and we loved hearing the history behind them. The performers were very talented and engaged the audience. My only wish was that the dinner menu was described in a little more detail online for us picky eaters.
