    Getting started

    Arrive at Nishiki Oritsuruya, where you’ll select your favorite kimono from over 200 options. The staff will assist with dressing and provide complimentary hair styling for women before your English-speaking instructor introduces the session.

    What to expect

    Kyoto kimono & tea ceremony workshop

    Experience two pillars of Japanese tradition, kimono attire and the tea ceremony, guided by local experts in a dedicated tea room. This hands-on workshop invites you to engage with centuries-old customs in the heart of Kyoto.

    Features

    • Kimono selection and dressing: Choose from an extensive collection of kimonos and learn about their cultural significance as you dress in authentic attire.

    • Tea ceremony demonstration: Watch an instructor demonstrate the art of preparing matcha, then try whisking your own tea using a chasen.

    • Japanese sweets tasting: Enjoy traditional sweets from a Kyoto store established over a century ago, paired with your freshly made matcha.

    • All-inclusive workshop: All materials are provided, so you can fully immerse yourself in the experience without bringing anything along.

    Upgrades

    Upgrade to a Japanese calligraphy workshop or a gold leaf craft session, where you create and take home your own finished piece.
