We had an awesome time at SEA LIFE! The whole place is so well set up, and all the hands-on stuff kept things interesting the entire visit. I especially loved the area where you could actually touch sea stars and sea urchins—it made the day extra special. The animal feedings were neat to see, and standing by some of those tanks, you almost feel like you’re underwater yourself. You can really see how much care goes into everything here. We’d come back for sure—definitely worth a visit!

Some of the digital screens by the tanks are pretty outdated, and a few animals seemed a little off from the way they were acting.

The tanks at SeaLife Speyer are nicely set up and there’s a cool mix of local and international water animals. You’ll get a peek at stuff from rivers, lakes, tropical seas—lots of variety. The really colorful tanks with corals and starfish stand out, but the other displays are worth a look too. One downside: if you just stroll past the tanks, you could finish the whole visit in about half an hour. It’s better if you catch one of the feedings or staff talks, or even just sit and chill by a tank—though there’s not always a spot to sit, and it can get really packed. We came during the week (not during school holidays), so strollers were allowed, but that made the paths a bit tight and honestly, a little chaotic. I’d probably suggest only letting small buggies or carriers in, not full strollers. The price might seem a bit steep for what you get, but since some of the money helps nature projects, I think it’s still okay.

A lot of the old attractions are gone now, like the octopus, and it feels like there aren’t as many fish anymore. The new app works pretty quickly for scanning animals but still gets confused sometimes. Still, kids will find Sea Life exciting, and the feedings plus all the explanations are really thorough and interesting.

Absolutely loved it. I came last year with my partner and had such a good time, I brought my whole family back this time. Everything looked just as dreamy as I remembered, and I even caught the fish feeding show this time. It all matched what we hoped for. We’ll definitely be returning.

What to expect

SEA LIFE Hannover is a barrier-free aquarium featuring more than 40 tanks and aquariums, home to a diverse range of marine life from local rivers to tropical seas. The experience includes daily feeding shows and lectures, offering educational insights for all ages.

Features:

Glass tunnel: Walk through a transparent 360° glass tunnel and come face-to-face with blacktip reef sharks, rays, and the resident green sea turtle, Oscar.

Themed zones: Journey from the Leine River habitat to the mangrove area, Clownfish Cave, Turtle Temple, and the ocean tunnel, each highlighting unique aquatic species.

Rainforest greenhouse: Step into a tropical environment, meet a genuine jungle ranger, and encounter the impressive Cuban crocodile alongside various insects and tropical animals.

Insect experience: Get up close to tiny insects and learn about their role in aquatic and rainforest ecosystems.

Feeding shows: Attend scheduled feeding sessions and lectures to discover what sharks and turtles eat and gain fascinating facts from the expert staff.

What’s not allowed

Pets are not permitted inside the aquarium.

Smoking is strictly prohibited on the premises.

Unaccompanied minors are not allowed; children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult.

Accessibility

The aquarium is suitable for wheelchair users, with elevators and accessible restrooms available.

Some areas may be difficult to access with large wheelchairs or walking frames.

The observation tower in the rainforest area is not accessible for wheelchair users.

Visitors with a 'B' in their handicap ID may bring an accompanying person free of charge (booking a ticket is required for the visitor).
