Nous avons aimé la gentillesse du chauffeur Kamal et sa ponctualité. La balade pour aller voir la cascade était très sympa. Nécessite des baskets de préférence car pour redescendre, beaucoup de rochers. Nous avons apprécié le repas au bord de la rivière de bonne qualité. Tajine poulet au citron, délicieuse. Seules les boissons sont à régler. La visite de la coopérative d'argan était aussi sympa ; avec dégustation d'un thé vert à la menthe marocain. Des explications sur les différentes huiles et ses bienfaits. Nous conseillons cette excursion d'un bon rapport qualité prix.

La journée a été parfaite la prise en charge très facile les visites sur le trajet intéressantes Le guide qui nous a emmené au cascades étaient super sympa et pour finir nous a montré des photos du village sous la neige cet hiver ainsi que quelques-unes de la station de ski dans l'Atlas Cela paraissait assez irréel par rapport à la météo géniale d'aujourd'hui

Journée magique avec notre guide Oussman, nous a parlé de l'histoire des berbères, très disponible, serbiable pour qu'on passe de beaux moments à notre rythme, personnalisé. Endroits incroyables à découvrir, les artisans adorables ,chemin accessible à tous (prévoir des baskets), le repas était excellent, a voir absolument vous aurez de beaux souvenirs

Le chauffeur était vraiment gentil et competent il nous a appris plein de choses mais le guide ne nous a rien expliqué il ne nous a presque pas parlé à part pour essayer de nous faire acheter une pierre ( et il n etait pas agreable)... on est montés en 15 minutes à la cascade et il ne nous a pas proposé de voir la 2eme cascade ( nous avons appris après qu il y en avait une autre). Le repas etait correct et le personnel gentil. Pendant le repas des gens sont venus chanter devant nous puis ont quemender de l argent de manière insistante ce qui n' était pas agréable.. les visites pendant le trajet sont des endroits juste pour acheter pour les touristes ( argan - poterie) . En résumé nous avons été un peu décus cela ne correspondait pas exactement à ce que j avais pensé pour une excursion privée... Par contre l' organisateur du tour a pris au serieux notre retour et a été très adequat pour nous proposer une solution. Nous le remercions et remercions le chauffeur pour leur reactivité et professionalisme.

What a stunning place to visit. Our driver was great. Good communication, punctual pick-up. Lunch was taken in an amazing spot, right next to the river. Out guide for the walk up to the waterfalls was helpful. It's a steep walk up lots of steps and loose paths so bear than in mind if that's not for you, but the views are wonderful. So glad that we booked this trip!

Getting started

Your driver picks you up from your hotel or riad in Marrakesh between 8:30-9am in an air-conditioned minivan. If your accommodation is in the old medina and not accessible by car, you'll meet at a nearby pickup point (confirmed by email the day before). Have your booking confirmation ready. Pickup details will be sent via email the day before your trip (usually by 5pm), or shortly after booking for last-minute reservations.

What to expect

A full day exploring the High Atlas foothills. You'll drive through mountain scenery, stop at Tnine Ourika village, visit a Berber home, see argan oil being handmade, and hike with a local mountain guide to Setti Fatma waterfalls.

Features

Scenic Atlas Mountains drive: Leave Marrakesh and wind through the foothills of the High Atlas Mountains. Pass red hills, terraced fields, olive groves, and traditional Berber villages set against mountain peaks. The road follows the Ourika River as you climb toward the valley.

Tnine Ourika village stop: Stop at Tnine Ourika, a traditional Berber village with a weekly Monday souk. See locals trading spices, produce, textiles, and crafts at the bustling market if your tour falls on a Monday. On other days, you'll pass through the village and continue into the mountains.

Women's argan oil cooperative: Watch Berber women crack argan nuts between stones and press the kernels to extract oil. Learn why it only grows in Morocco and how the cooperative supports local women's livelihoods.

Berber home visit: Step inside a traditional adobe house built into the mountainside to see thick walls, handwoven carpets, and low seating areas. Meet a local family and learn how daily life revolves around farming, animal herding, and seasonal rhythms.

Ourika Valley arrival: Reach the heart of Ourika Valley, where lush greenery contrasts with the rocky Atlas peaks. The valley is fed by snowmelt from the High Atlas, creating a green oasis just 60km from Marrakesh.

Waterfall hike: Walk from Setti Fatma village (elevation 1,500m) up to the first of seven waterfalls at 1,700m. The rocky trail climbs 200 meters alongside the river, crossing wooden bridges. Your local guide leads the 1-hour hike and points out the remaining 6 waterfalls visible from viewpoints along the path.

Riverside setting: Relax by the Ourika River, where cafés and restaurants line the banks. Enjoy an authentic 3-course Moroccan meal with mountain views before returning to Marrakesh.

What to bring

Comfortable hiking shoes with good grip for rocky terrain.

Sunglasses, sun hat, and sunscreen.

Water bottle (refill stops available).

Camera for waterfall and mountain photos.

Light jacket (mountain temperatures can be cooler).

What's not allowed

Baby strollers, hand carts, and baby carriages.

Large luggage or oversized bags.

Accessibility

Not suitable for wheelchair users or those with mobility issues.

Waterfall hike involves 200 meters of elevation gain on uneven, rocky terrain.

Bridges along the trail have no railings.

Additional information

Pickup details will be sent via email the day before your trip (usually by 5pm), or shortly after booking for last-minute reservations.

If your accommodation is not accessible by car, a nearby meeting point will be arranged.

Please be ready 5-10 minutes before your confirmed pickup time.

Drop-off can be at the same pickup point or a different location in Marrakesh upon request.

Regular stops for lunch, water, and restrooms are scheduled.

Arrival time back in Marrakesh may vary slightly due to traffic or weather conditions.

Monday tours include the Tnine Ourika weekly souk; other days pass through the village.

Reaching waterfalls 2-7 requires additional climbing and is not included in this tour.
