Wow! Incredible! Such an amazing find. Matilda's tour was just fantastic - she was fun, great with the kids and adults alike and very informative about the history and findings and science behind the cave. Felt very safe up and down the stairs and have some incredible photographs. A must do in WA!

What an amazing beautiful cave. Had a fantastic young lady as our very informative tour guide. After our lovely cave tour we popped into the cafe for delicious scones and coffee ☕️. The shop had some lovely items for purchase too. Would definitely recommend a visit.

We had a wonderful experience at Jewel Cave. The guided tour was very interesting and informative, and the cave itself was absolutely beautiful. Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable and made the tour enjoyable. Definitely worth visiting if you’re in Margaret River! ❤️

What a brilliant experience. We've done a number of caves around Australia and abroad. This is by far the best one we have experienced. The path is well laid out, the guide was fantastic and the different formations were so beautiful.

Really loved the organ pipes, they were stunning! Our guide Holly was wonderful, shared her extensive knowledge and also her passion with us. Holly pointed out "Tinkerbell" to us on the straws coming down from the roof of the cave

Getting started

Arrive at the Jewel Cave visitor center on Jewel Caves Road, Deepdene, just north of Augusta. Meet your guide near the main entrance for a quick introduction and ticket check before heading underground.

What to expect

Jewel Cave is the largest show cave in Western Australia, renowned for its expansive chambers and geological wonders. Guided tours reveal the cave’s history, including fossils of the extinct Tasmanian Tiger and formations sculpted over thousands of years.

Good to know: The tour involves stairs and some physical effort—comfortable shoes recommended. Not wheelchair accessible. Book ahead and arrive early, especially during peak times.

What to bring

Wear closed-toe shoes with good grip, as the cave floor can be slippery.

Bring a jumper or extra layer, as it is cooler underground.

Carry a water bottle for hydration.

Bring a camera for photos, but be prepared to move at the group’s pace.

What’s not allowed

Large bags, suitcases, and oversized luggage are not permitted inside the cave.

Food and drinks are not allowed inside the cave (except water in a sealed bottle).

Smoking, alcohol, and drugs are strictly prohibited on the premises.

Pets are not permitted, except for registered service animals.

Tripods, monopods, and professional photography equipment are not allowed during the tour.

Accessibility

This experience is not wheelchair accessible due to numerous stairs and uneven surfaces.

Visitors must have moderate mobility and be able to manage over 500 steps throughout the tour.

The tour is not suitable for prams, strollers, or mobility devices.

Additional information

The guided tour lasts approximately 1 hour and covers three underground chambers.

The cave is open daily from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, except on Christmas Day.

An optional self-guided Karri forest walk is available after your cave tour.

Group sizes may be large during peak times; booking ahead is strongly recommended, especially during school holidays and weekends.

Children and older adults are welcome but should be comfortable with stairs and a moderate walking pace.

The on-site café offers snacks and refreshments for purchase.

Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled tour time.

Getting There

By car: Jewel Cave is a 10-minute drive north of Augusta, along Caves Road.

It is recommended to drive or take a taxi to get to the cave as there is limited public transport.
