Exploring Australia's Indigenous Culture
Begin your day with a pick-up from Darwin and travel south on the Stuart Highway. Make a stop at the Adelaide River War Cemetery to pay your respects to the fallen soldiers of World War II.
Continue on to Nitmiluk National Park, which covers over 292,000 hectares and is home to the Jawoyn people. Here, view the Aboriginal rock art and discover more about the indigenous inhabitants' culture.
The Wild Waters of Katherine Gorge
Take a refreshing plunge (available only in dry season) in the lovely waters of Leliyn (Edith Falls), with its cascading waters and thick rainforest surroundings, and after working up an appetite, savour a gourmet meal in a shaded outdoor setting. Next, head to the Nitmiluk Visitor Centre to learn more about the park and its history.
After that, it's time to set out on the 2-hour cruise through Katherine Gorge. Before returning to Darwin, this is one of the most well-liked sights in the Northern Territory due to its high cliffs and freshwater crocodiles.
