The online ticketing system is a little onerous, but once at the Sanctuary, everything was great: maps, explanation from specialist staff very good. Exhibit structures good, although nocturnal animal areas are understandably dark so it is difficult to see the animals. The grounds are much improved as compared to when we visited many years ago. I laud your conservation efforts. Your passion is obvious. Well done. John Casey

Wondered about the check-in rigmarole. Surely the amount of information collected during the on-line booking would suffice. Couldn't see the point of repeating it all. Our six year old grandaughter's birthday will surely linger long in her memory.

The booking was a little late coming through apparently due to COVID, but it all went very smoothly. The instruction to print a hard copy of the ticket unnecessary- it did cause some worry as I do not possess a printer, and quite a drive to use one. The staff at Healesville Sanctuary processed the tickets, with no problem, from my phone. Thankyou.

Nestled in the heart of the Yarra Valley is the Healesville Sanctuary, a world-famous sanctuary to see Australian wildlife in their natural habitat. Reconnect with nature, from creek to canopy, as you stroll through 70 acres of bushland haven! This sanctuary also plays a vital role in saving endangered animals in Australia. Enjoy close up encounters with adorable native animals like koalas, kangaroos, wombats, emus, platypi, dingoes, and birds. Visit the Australian Wildlife Health Center as well, a working veterinary hospital that treats orphaned, injured, and ill wildlife. Meet the sleepy koalas, say g’day to a kangaroo, and wave at the shy little echidnas - all, in a fun and safe manner.

COVID Safety Guidelines

You will receive your tickets within 24-48 hours of making the booking

Masks are mandatory indoors in Victoria. They need to be worn anytime you are inside apart from when you’re eating or drinking

Groups must consist of 10 guests or fewer

All guests are required to stay at least 1.5 meters away from other guests

Various habitats have been closed for public safety

All indoor spaces have been closed, dining options are outdoors only, and some keeper talks and encounters are currently unavailable

You are required to purchase pre-booked tickets (even for infants) online. You will not be able to book tickets at the gate

Important Information

*Note: the animals have access to their night dens during this time and the zoo does not want to disrupt their routine so some animals may choose to hit the hay early

Indoor habitats like the Nocturnal House, Land of Parrots, Reptile House, and Australian Wildlife Health Centre are open, all others are closed

The Pouch House is open, Future Vets is closed

Creek play is open, subject to creek conditions

Keeper talks are running, except for Platypus Chat

Daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Discounted Tickets

Admissions for infants under the age of 3 are free every day

Children aged 4-15yrs enjoy reduced ticket pricing (carry a valid photo ID)

Children under 16 receive free entry on weekends, Victorian public holidays, and Victorian Government school holidays

Reduced-price tickets are also available for anyone with a valid Australian Pensioner Concession Card, full-time student card, Healthcare Card, Disability Concession Card, or DVA Gold Card

Please print your voucher and display it with a valid photo ID at the attraction

If you have purchased reduced-price tickets, please carry your valid photo ID proof for verification
