This tour was a lot of fun and I appreciated the informative staff. The historic feel was palpable and the gardens were very impressive. Unfortunately, it turns out mondays are field trip day so there were thousands of very disrespectful, unbelievably loud children. Teachers did nothing to quiet the kids. It was extremely disruptive and took away from the experience quite a bit.

Can't give 5 stars because the palace was so empty. The furniture has gone to somewhere. And can't give 3 stars because the cafeteria people are so kind and welcoming. And last thing is so thankful for the keeping the historical , cultural , civility place such as Hampton court.

Die Schauspieler und ihre kleinen Theaterstücke in der mittelalterlichen Gewandung nahmen einen mit in die Zeit von Heinrich 8. Durch Tanz und Gesang fühlte man sich in die Zeit zurück versetzt. Der kostenlose Audioguide war absolut informativ und ein absolutes Highlight . Alle Personen/Guids waren so hilfsbereit und zuvorkommend. Vielen Dank dafür. Dadurch, dass man in der Küche auch was anfassen durfte und die Vorführungen hat man Museumspädagogik gehabt. Die Gartenlandschaft ist ein Traum. Ein absolutes Muss hier her zu kommen.

I have wanted to visit Hampton Court for so many years and it did not disappoint! As a fan of Tudor history, the thought that I was standing where Henry VIII and Cardinal Wolsey had also stood just blew my mind! The Field of Cloth of Gold was something I learned about as a history student but not something I ever thought I would see in person and it literally left me speechless. The gardens are exquisite and were such a treat to see, even in the winter. The Christmas fair was also amazing and added to what was already a brilliant day.

Hampton Court Palace isn't just a visit – it's an immersion into centuries of royal history, architectural splendor, and horticultural mastery.

Pay a visit to the State Apartments of Henry VIII, discover the Great Chamber lined with Thomas Wolsey’s tapestries, and learn about the battle for power at the Tudor Court.

Be amazed by the spectacular interiors of the Chapel Royal, which has been in use for over 450 years and continues to remain an active place of worship.

The famous Hampton Court Maze, the oldest surviving hedge maze in the world, offers a delightful challenge for visitors of all ages.

Discover Hampton Court Palace

What awaits you is a spell-binding Tudor Palace, initially developed by Cardinal Wolsey and later by Henry VIII, positioned next to a Baroque Palace constructed during the reign of William III and Mary III. You’ll be visiting the King’s apartments in the role of one of his courtiers, donning a Tudor cloak and making your way to the enormous kitchens which was where banquets for over 1000 guests were prepared. A right turn past the wine cellar will get you to Chapel Royal, the former seat of the monarch and his companions (Royal Pew), and a still-active place of worship.

You’ll also make your way to William III’s State Apartments comprising of the Guard Chamber, the Presence Chamber, the Privy Chamber, and the Great Bedchamber. Up next is 60 acres of beautiful gardens running all the way down to the Thames River. These gardens are home to the world’s oldest maze (spanning a third of an acre), three National Plant Collections (Heliotropium ‘Cherry Pie Plant’, Lantana 'American shrub verbena', Queen Mary II Exoticks), and the largest Grape Vine in the world. The Gardens feature dazzling fountains along with seasonal displays of thousands of blooming flower buds.

What to bring

Carry a valid photo ID as you'll need it when exchanging your ticket.

There is no specific dress code but smart, elegant, and respectful clothing is recommended.

In case you want to make any notes, use pencils and not pens.

What's not allowed

Eating or drinking is not allowed anywhere in the Palace other than in the designated lunchrooms.

Smoking is not permitted in any of the buildings.

No photography/filming is allowed at the Chapel Royal and Royal Pew.

Visitors are not allowed to touch exhibits placed behind ropes.

Accessibility

Wheelchairs are available but it's recommended to bring your own.

A lift is available from the 1st floor to the State Apartments.

Single-person mobility scooters are available.

Those who are especially disabled will require valid medical proof to bring along a carer.

Disabled visitors require a ticket but their carer can enter free of charge.

Additional information

Kids aged 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Wedding and engagement photography is reserved solely for couples holding their ceremony at Hampton Court Palace. All professional photography requests must be arranged directly with the Events Department.
