We’re a couple from the UK, and we visited the Melbourne Skydeck at about 1:30 pm on a clear day. The lift is absurd—88 floors in 38 seconds—and suddenly you’re looking down at the whole city. The views were superb in the early afternoon light: the Yarra, the MCG, and the bay in the distance. Inside the observation deck, it was surprisingly quiet compared to the street noise below—no trams, no traffic, just a calm hush. Then you step out onto the outdoor viewing platform and see all that noise happening far below, almost silently. The city becomes a distant hum, and the contrast is striking. We also did the VR theatre. We expected a gimmick, but it was genuinely enjoyable—a fun 11-minute whizz over Victoria. At around $33 each, it’s not cheap, but for UK visitors wanting a proper sense of Melbourne, it was worth it. Book online, go on a clear day, and make time for the outdoor viewing platform. It’s the bit we kept talking about afterwards.

Melbourne Museum was awesome and never been a boring itinerary for us, as a family. My 17 mo. old baby girl and 4 yo boy enjoyed seeing actual bugs moving inside their own home(cage). They even went back to watch them several times!! The Wondrous Planet exhibition was also awesome because we got to see face to face the actual size of Polar bear and seal, which we watched in the discovery chanel. We went on weekend, so there was a long queue but we just did an online payment/registration, which truly helped us avoid that queue and tantrums from eager children wanting to go inside!! :)

We had a fantastic experience at Melbourne Skydeck! We arrived before sunset and stayed until it got dark, which was absolutely worth it. Watching the sunset over Melbourne, with its modern high-rise buildings and the beautiful Yarra River, was amazing. As night fell, the city lights created an incredible view. The panoramic scenery was stunning, and it was a memorable experience for the whole family. Definitely a must-visit attraction in Melbourne. Highly recommended!

Highly worth the experience!! Im a local and went for the first time. Easy to get to. No wait to get up there, and plenty of room to see all around. The esspresso martinis from the bar are amazing!!

My visit to Melbourne Skydeck with Headout was a memorable experience from start to finish. What made the visit special was the incredible panoramic view of Melbourne from such a high vantage point. Seeing the city skyline, Yarra River and surrounding areas from above was breathtaking, especially around sunset when the city began to light up. The experience was also smooth and convenient through Headout, making it easy to access the attraction without any unnecessary hassle. The Skydeck itself had a great atmosphere, and the views made it an experience I would definitely recommend to both tourists and locals. Overall, Headout made visiting Melbourne Skydeck simple and enjoyable, while the stunning views created a memorable experience that I’ll remember for a long time.

It was a very lovely experience. I loved how everything looked from the top. The buildings, the lights, the stadium, flinders street station etc. I even saw people playing tennis near the stadium through the binoculars. Edge experience was great too, a pinch of excitement and nervousness.

Melbourne Skydeck is on the 88th floor. In an emergency, visitors must use the stairs to evacuate. Fire wardens will guide everyone to the nearest refuge area. Emergency services will help anyone who can’t use the stairs.

Wheelchairs are available free of charge from the foyer at Melbourne Museum for your visit.

Ramps and elevators are available at the venue for easy access.

Accessible parking spaces and lifts are available at various locations throughout the Museum, including Rathdowne Street Car Park, Nicholson Street Car Park, between the Museum Shop and Café, at the Triceratops: Fate of the Dinosaurs exhibition, and at the IMAX Theatre.

Guests 12 years and under must be accompanied by parents or guardians. The recommended age for VR experiences is 8 years.

For general Melbourne Skydeck viewing allow up to 45 minutes.

Bar 88 is located on the Skydeck and offers cocktails, fine wines, coffee, soft drinks, and gourmet pastries like pies, pasties, and sausage rolls. Purchases at Bar 88 are not included in your ticket and must be paid for separately.
