The seaside town of Essaouira offers an escape from the frenetic pace of souks and streets often found in the luxury bubble of Marrakesh. Sitting on the Atlantic coast, this city has long enjoyed the reputation for being laid-back and is as intoxicating as it is soothing.
Get picked up from your hotel and make way to the port city. Stop at a restaurant along the way and taste local delicacies at your own expense. As you move on, you will come across a rather unusual sight with goats perched high upon argan trees, feeding on the fruity pulp. The nut of the argan tree is used to produce the sought-after Moroccan gold: Argan Oil. You will learn all about the beneficial properties of the oil used for both culinary and cosmetic purposes on your following visit to an association of Berber women who produce argan oil.
Finally, on arrival at Essaouira, you will have all the free time to enjoy the slow-paced life. Within the azure-and-white confines of the Medina lies an alternative look into Morrocco. The idea here is to take things easy. Explore the cobbled streets of the medina featuring bright blue facades contrasted with yellow doors, and tuck into small shops selling colorful blankets and rugs, wooden handicrafts, and delicious food. Laze by the beach, catch the sunset over the Atlantic, get carried away with the sound of waves crashing against the walls, and click extraordinary photos of your time here.
