The event itself was great. The host and organisers obviously take their work seriously and care about the wildlife and all money from tickets goes to preservation and research efforts. However, there are too many people and many guests are taking photos and videos even after they've been explicitly asked not to multiple times. It all just seems a little bit too much activity for the penguins when they are just trying to get home. I think limiting the amount of people would be a good idea.

The staff were super friendly and informative and had a real passion for the penguins. We also had a lovely chat with a team member about the bandicoot we saw and received loads of information about them. The downloadable photos and videos are a great idea as you can't take your own I thought that was a nice touch. So much care is taken to look after the penguins and make sure they feel safe while arriving, it was really special to see. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit!

Penguin Parade was excellent - wide walkways and clear instructions from friendly and helpful staff - who were plentiful and easy to identify. Experience slightly negative from the patrons who consistently continued to take photos despits information and best efforts from staff. Maybe it needs to be a no phone/ no camera entry to the parade so the evening can be enjoyed by all, in the moment, rather than jumping up to take photos. Never enough women's toilets

The Penguin Parade at Phillip Island was an unforgettable experience. Watching the little penguins emerge from the ocean at sunset and waddle across the beach to their burrows was incredibly cute and heartwarming. The viewing areas are well organized and respectful of the penguins’ natural habitat, making it a special way to see wildlife up close while supporting conservation. Definitely a must-visit if you’re in Victoria.

Weapons, dangerous items, drones, tripods, monopods, skateboards, roller-skates/rollerblades, or scooters are not allowed in the park.

Cameras, phones, and loose items are not allowed on the rides.

Photos or recordings for any commercial purpose without prior written consent are not allowed.

Guests with broken bones or wearing plaster casts are not permitted on the rides.

Alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs, controlled substances, outside food, and smoking are not allowed inside the venue.

Accessibility

The park is wheelchair accessible, and most rides are accessible except the Scenic Railway. Various health and safety requirements do apply to wheelchair guests, so it’s always best to check with staff before your visit.

Carers with a valid Companion Card or We Care Card receive free entry when accompanying a guest with a full-priced ticket purchased online. Upon arrival, the carer can present their card at the Ticket Box to receive their complimentary ticket.

Your guide dogs are welcome.

The rides are not recommended for pregnant people, people with back or neck problems, or people with serious medical conditions.

For the safety and enjoyment of all guests, Luna Park operates with a limited capacity, resulting in a restricted number of tickets available each day. Guests are encouraged to prebook their tickets in advance to secure entry.

Children under 13 years old must be accompanied by a parent or a guardian.

Wristbands issued by the park are void if removed. Lost or damaged wristbands will not be replaced.

What's not allowed

Photographs and video recordings are not allowed when penguins are coming home, because the artificial light sources will stimulate the eyes of the penguins. The island implements light control at this time.

Big bags are not permitted. Only small carry-on bags are allowed inside.

Additional information

Penguins arrive at sunset each evening, with typical arrival times ranging from 8:30pm to 9pm in summer (Dec–Feb), 7pm to 8pm in autumn (Mar–May), 5:15pm to 6pm in winter (Jun–Aug), and 6:30pm to 8pm in spring (Sep–Nov). Arrive at least 1 hour beforehand to secure your seat and enjoy the visitor center before the parade begins.
