This vibrant revival takes Gilbert and Sullivan’s beloved operetta and drops anchor in New Orleans, blending its classic wit with bluesy swagger and Caribbean rhythms. Themes of duty, love, identity, and absurd legal loopholes unfold with hilarity and heart, as young Frederic finds himself caught between romance and responsibility—all set against the vibrant chaos of a pirate crew, a no-nonsense Major-General, and some of the fastest feet on Broadway. With a star cast including David Hyde Pierce, Ramin Karimloo, and Jinkx Monsoon, this riotous romp promises award-worthy entertainment and a shipload of surprises.

The story

Young Frederic is finally free from his apprenticeship to a band of tender-hearted pirates—until a bizarre twist of fate reveals he was born on a leap day, meaning he’s technically only five years old. Just as he falls for the spirited Mabel, daughter of the tongue-twisting Major-General, Frederic learns he must serve the pirates for another 63 years. Torn between love and loyalty, he’s bound by duty to return to his swashbuckling life. As the police close in, the pirates plot rebellion, and romance hangs in the balance… one question remains: will Frederic follow his heart—or the letter of the law
