You continue on to Wai-O-Tapu, a stunning geothermal wonderland where hot springs, mud pools, and the Champagne Pool, a hot spring ringed with vivid orange deposits and filled with turquoise water. Wai-O-Tapu is also home to bubbling mud pools, steaming craters, and the famous Lady Knox Geyser, which erupts daily with a geyser-like spray that reaches up to 20 meters high. End the tour by driving through Rotorua’s city to see highlights like the half-timbered style of Rotorua Museum and the bright green volcano crater lake, Whangapipiro.
