I was very impressed from the outside, since one of my favorite movies was Night at the Museum, so I had very high expectations. It is enormous and very interactive—extremely impressive. My favorite part was the dinosaurs; it’s something I had never seen before, and seeing them in real life really lets you imagine what they were like.

Great museum, perfect for visiting with kids. We went with our child and really enjoyed everything. The exhibitions are engaging, well-organized, and easy to understand even for children. The evacuation section was the absolute highlight — very powerful, informative, and memorable. Time flew by, and we would definitely recommend this museum to families visiting New York

We had a wonderful time at the Museum of Natural History! Our 7 year old's eyes lit up the second walked inside. From the animals and artifacts from around the world to the space exhibits and dinosaur displays, there was so much to see and learn. We enjoyed the dinosaur show and even grabbed a tasty bite to eat at the food court. It was a fantastic day!

Honestly, it was undoubtedly the best experience I've ever had at the American Museum of Natural History. The museum is huge and has everything you could want to see in a natural history museum, including many different species, both marine and otherwise. It even has a cafeteria where you can eat and drink. Excellent! 100/100

Do not visit during Christmas and New Year's. Crowd was massive and we were not able to do/see everything we wanted. Also, do not buy tickets from a 3rd party. Go directly to museum website to order tickets. The line to enter with 3rd party tickets was a block long. No line for tickets bough directly from MoNA

Good experience- must to do with kids and get their curiosity going for science, genesis of life on earth in an immersive and enriching way. It is one of the best museum experiences and we truly enjoyed including this in our New York tour. Strongly recommend to travellers of all ages, especially those with kids

We wasted about 1.5 hours stuck waiting in lines for a ticket voucher. What's the point of purchasing ahead online? Totally unnecessary and it set our family up for a difficult experience as that length of wait fatigued our 7 year old. Has we been able to walk in with mobile tickets, it would have been a much better experience. We came a long distance for this special trip and left feeling really dissappounted. We also paid extra for a special exhibit and even though they gave us a time slot they still let so many people in, you could move in, or even fully access, the exhibit.

It was such a good experience at the museum. My daughter wanted to go after watching night at the museum. We were pleasantly surprised at the museum. It was amazing and so much to see. I am sure must have missed some sections.

Enter via the main entrance at Central Park West & 79th Street. Show your ticket and photo ID. All visitors go through a security screening. One special exhibit is included with your ticket—select at entry.

Encounters in the Milky Way: An interactive, immersive film at the Hayden Planetarium about our galaxy, created with the help of astronomers, gathered scientific data, and visual artists taking you on a visual journey around the Milky Way.

Invisible Worlds: An interactive, immersive exhibit that shows you the interconnectedness of everything on our planet, from plankton on the ocean floor to the forests in the Amazon.

Impact: The End of the Age of Dinosaurs: Learn more about the asteroid collision that happened 66 million years ago, which resulted in the end of the age of dinosaurs, and the explosion of life that followed.

Fossil Halls: Stand beneath fossilized giants like the Tyrannosaurus rex, Stegosaurus, and the 122-foot titanosaur.

Mignone Halls of Gems and Minerals: View 5,000+ gems, glowing minerals, and amethyst geodes that tell Earth’s ancient story.

Milstein Hall of Ocean Life: Gaze up at a 94-foot blue whale model and learn about ocean ecosystems and marine species.

Mammal dioramas: Encounter lifelike wildlife in the Bernard Family Hall of North American Mammals and Akeley Hall of African Mammals.

You can select the special exhibit of your choice at the ticket counter when you arrive based on your preference.

The Museum has a parking garage at its 81st entrance and a subway stop (81st Street – Museum of Natural History) where the B and C trains stop.

If you live in New York State, you can choose your own admission price — just show a valid ID at the entrance.

The museum offers free entry during the last hour of the day, from 4:30pm to 5:30pm.

Your voucher will be emailed to you instantly.

Display the voucher on your mobile phone with a valid photo ID at the redemption point. Students must show a valid student ID.
