Al principio me extrañó que en el correo electrónico no me enviaran un código QR ni ninguna entrada con código de barras como en otras aplicaciones, pero al llegar a la entrada fui al mostrador de tickets y mostrando el número de reserva y nombre de la empresa te dan los tickets. Como sugerencia estaría bien que habilitarán una entrada virtual y así no tener que hacer cola para sacar la entrada, por todo lo demás genial. Lo recomiendo.

Wonderful experience for our family of four (two college-age children). We especially loved the self-paced nature of the tour and accompanying multimedia guide, which allowed us to take our time in the areas or rooms of greatest interest. The State Rooms/Apartments, Mary Queen of Scots’ chambers, the artwork and the ruins of Holyrood Abbey were just some of tour highlights. Highly recommended!

The audio guide for children was great - specifically (and in contrast to similar audio guides elsewhere, in world) the audio guide was EASY to follow (pictures / order of rooms on guide made this intuitive for children) and each audio clip was SUCCINCT - ie detailed enough to teach them something / enhance their experience, yet short enough to maintain their attention.

La audioguía es muy buena y el lugar no está mal para visitar. Lo peor la señora de la entrada que revisaba los bolsos y que tenía poca paciencia a pesar de ver que no le entendíamos lo que quería decir

We really enjoyed our visit with my daughters and friends, comparing the present with the past and what we know about Mary, Queen of Scots. The sweet endings was the green garden and authentic coffee in the courtyard.

The tour of Holyrood palace was very interesting , informative and enjoyable. Loved the short recorded interview with Anne and Edward. The walk around the abbey ruins and garden was good despite the time of year. The drawings exhibition is really for those with a true interest in the subject - appeared introspective to me.

What's not allowed

Palace of Holyroodhouse

Large bags, rucksacks, and suitcases (30L or over) are not allowed inside for security reasons.

Due to venue restrictions, pets cannot tag along for this experience.

Keep your camera tucked away – photography is strictly not allowed inside the State Apartments.

Edinburgh Hop-on Hop-off Bus Tour

This experience is wheelchair accessible.

Wheelchairs must be no larger than 70cm wide, 120cm long, and 135cm high to board the bus. If unsure, contact the service provider.

Just a heads up, each bus can only accommodate 1 wheelchair at a time. If there is already a passenger in a wheelchair, please wait for the next one.

The Palace of Holyroodhouse will be open on Tuesday, December 23, 2025. However, it will be closed on Christmas Day.

As the Palace of Holyroodhouse is a working royal palace, security and opening arrangements may be subject to change at short notice.

The palace is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
