Witness an accurate reenactment of Hillary Clinton’s disastrous 2008 presidential campaign. An interesting instance of the butterfly effect, the story showcases the impact of past actions on the lives and images of politicians.
Why Watch Hillary and Clinton
Why Watch Hillary and Clinton
An act from the past can have dire consequences in the future, as seen in the case of Hillary and Bill Clinton. This is a deep introspection into the politics of marriage and gender roles that exist in society today. There is also the undercurrent of differing opinions between the campaign manager and her husband. The play is written by Obie award winner Lucas Hnath and directed by Tony Award-winner Joe Mantello. The role of Hillary Rodham Clinton is portrayed to utter perfection by three-time Emmy winner and two-time Tony award winner Laurie Metcalf, and she is accompanied by the legendary John Lithgow, a six-time Emmy and two-time Tony award winner as the charismatic Bill Clinton.
The Story
It is early 2008, and the presidential campaign is coming to a scintillating conclusion as America is torn between electing its first ever woman president or its first ever black president. In New Hampshire, behind closed doors, Hillary Clinton is sifting through the options available to her, which can help save her campaign. The signs of the outcome are already not in the favour of Hillary and there is also a disruption between her spouse Bill, the 42nd president of the United States, and her campaign manager Mark Penn. They are split in opinion about the involvement of the former president in Hillary’s campaign run.
It is a tale that examines the current gender disparities and how marriage can influence a political career in the long run. It questions the morality of actions and gives you an inside look at a crumbling American dynasty.
