In 1887, the Ronacher assumed the moniker of ‘Theatersaal Ronacher’ and began showcasing operettas, comedic acts, and revues. It is only recently that the theater is focusing exclusively on musicals.
World War II effects: Like other theaters in Vienna, the Ronacher Theater also suffered consequential damage during World War II bombings. Around 1945, the bombings led by the Allied Forces caused significant tears to its interiors and exterior facade. However, after extensive renovation efforts, the Ronacher was opened to the public in 1955.
Hidden passageways: It is expected that an old establishment like the Ronacher Theater would have a series of hidden pathways and rooms inside, which are unexplored and not in use today.
