As you make your way to the marvelous Canterbury Cathedral, soak up the charm and idyllic appeal of the medieval city of Canterbury. Founded by St. Augustine in 597 AD, this city was the center of English Christianity! Of all the 104 Archbishops, Thomas Becket is the most famous, known for being gruesomely murdered here in 1170. Walk your way through the cathedral and take in the structure at your own pace. Some of the highlights to look out for the Mother Church of the Anglican Communion, the Romanesque Crypt, Site of Becket's Martyrdom and Shrine, 14th-15th century Nave, and more. The Gothic Quire will certainly catch your eye: it was rebuilt in the 12th century after a fire destroyed the structure. All the while, gasp at the stained glass adorned throughout the cathedral, illustrating miracles and stories associated with St. Thomas!
