Simply astonishing to see what was left. Our guide was so illuminating about the restorations done, pointing out things we would have missed without his intimate knowledge of the place. It was worth every penny. I'd suggest getting the Before and After book. Minor gripe: not enough time to take photos. Please consider expanding time length to 2 1/2 hours, rather than taking time away from the tour itself. Recommendation to readers: bring a walking stick!

The guide, Mª Laura, lived up to the Herculaneum excavations and exceeded our expectations. We had just come from seeing Pompeii and the explanations of Mª Laura together with the better state of the ruins of Herculaneum, made the experience something very special. Not only did she explain the ruins with a multitude of archaeological and historical data, but she also expanded the information by answering all the questions we asked her. His knowledge greatly enhanced the value of the visit. Afterwards we ate at the restaurant at the exit, in Pappamonte and the experience was fabulous. The spaghetti alle vongole was the best we had on the whole trip.

A great tour of Herculaneum with archaeologist guide Luciano Leone. A wonderfully captivating and entertaining man talking about his experience and the history of Herculaneum as well as comparing it to Pompeii. We highly recommend Askos and Luciano.

Une superbe visite grâce aux explications d'Alfredo qui a fait en sorte que nous comprenions tout de la vie à Herculanum, ainsi que les différences avec Pompéi. 2 heures fournies en anecdotes et qui nous ont permis de voir et comprendre la majorité du site avec le guide. Visit the ancient town of Herculaneum that overlooks the Gulf of Naples on this guided venture alongside an expert archaeologist. Renowned for its splendid archaeological Roman excavations, you're in for a real treat. Legend has it that Herculaneum was founded by the mythological hero, Hercules! Born of the archaic age, this city has evident Samnite, Greek, Etruscan influences, with an overriding Roman presence. Alas, this city (along with Pompeii) was destroyed by the same eruption of Vesuvius in 79AD.

These excavations were included in the UNESCO World Heritage site list in 1997. Your tour lets you explore this unique site, the unique distribution of houses, the monumental basilica, the grand spa complex, the gymnasium, and more. A walk through the ancient city lets you see bronze parts and the elevations of the houses, conservation of woods, and the various styles of Vesuvian paintings. All the while, your expert archaeologist will engage you with captivating anecdotes, secrets, and stories about this world-famous attraction.

This experience is wheelchair and pram/stroller accessible. Entry is free for people with disabilities and an accompanying adult.
Dogs are allowed into the venue, without restriction of breed or size. However, they must be kept with a leash and/or muzzle (the latter is obligatory for all breeds and opportunities provided by current regulations). Pet parents must have bags to collect any droppings.
In the Antiquarium, inside the Padiglione della Barca and in the domus with mosaic floors, access is allowed only to dogs carried in their arms or in the appropriate carrier.
