I'd like to clarify a few points for you, as I find the explanations on the site unclear: - reserving a time at the dome does not mean being at the entrance at that time. You have to be at the bar at the time you booked (8 a.m., so 7.45 a.m., i.e. 15 minutes in advance). - A vox city employee registers you and sticks a little sticker on your jacket. - The vox city guide accompanies us (and others) through the basilica queue. He explains that he's only there to wait in line, and that he holds our entrance ticket. The QR code is not a ticket. After the 1st queue and the portico, there's a 2nd queue for the entrance to the dome. - The guide asks us if we want to take the stairs (long wait, but included in your ticket, it depends) or if we want to take the steps. If you're in good health, I recommend the steps to save time. It's sporty, but you've got to do it! - A word of advice: book early in the morning or late in the afternoon to avoid the crowds.

The dome was amazing of course. I thought we would "skip the line" but we still had to wait in line at security and wait in line before going up the steps. It was October and there were a lot of people. I was hoping to have a more express entry.

Even though it was a self guided tour our host was attentive to us until we entered the basilica. We were greeted with croissants and coffee, and he answered all our questions about the tour good naturedly!

The view from the cathedral, the gardens of the Vatican. Your staff were nice and friendly. We were provided with a snack.

We had already been to the cathedral before the slot for the ascent with a guided tour (also booked through you) and had subsequently booked the separate booking/slot for the cathedral ascent with you. We were sure that we could use the QR code you gave us to go directly to the entrance for the ascent to the dome. However, we were turned away at the entrance because the ticket was not valid and we had to buy a separate new ticket. In other words, we couldn't use your ticket at all. This cost us an extra EURO 30. It would make more sense if you send the correct QR ticket directly to your cell phone so that you don't have to organize the tickets separately somewhere (outside the cathedral) and then queue again for the entrance. It would also make sense to simply send a link to an audio guide that we can listen to directly from our cell phones. It would also be important to mention that it is very VERY VERY narrow when climbing up to the dome and that if you have difficulty and suffer from claustrophobia, you should not enter the dome. We witnessed a visitor who had a panic attack and had to be evacuated.

The Basilica is gorgeous. I bought dome tickets and it was worth it. I loved the view from inside and outside the dome.

The Basillica is simply stunning, and the climb up the steps to the top of the dome is a definite must. There are queues despite the "fast track" but they are managed pretty well. The organisation by headout was excellent, easy to locate meeting spot - and a "free" breakfast which was a nice surprise as it was very early in the morning.

Everything was very good. However we also booked the Sistine Chapel Tour and it did not go well. I will write in a seperate email. Thanks Paolo Iacobazzi

Let's go with what didn't work. Was expecting it to be a skip the line ticket but we ended up queueing for ages to get into the lift. Partly because they wanted to let all 96 people in at once and also because they kept letting other people jump the queue once we had tickets . With that and the security queue it took between one hour thirty and two hours to get up the dome. Disappointing. We only knew what was going on as we were at the front of the queue the "guides" didn't seem to be communicating with anyone in the queue.

It wouldn't have been necessary to spend so much money (29 euros) on it. In the end, we were accompanied by the tour guide through the - free - security check and to the ticket booth for the dome (would have been only 8 or 10 euros). The audio guide was OK, but at almost 20 euros it was very expensive. But in the end everything was included and worked out fine.

Everything was so easy. Good location to meet up just behind collonade on Surgo S. Spirito. Juice n pastry at start. We were escorted straight to lift or stairs depending on how you were going. Audioguide was good too.

Nice company from 3 young women. However, they were unable to assert themselves against the supervisors (to the lift). Much too long waiting time in front of the lift, I would never book again.

This self guided tour was very well organised. The meeting place was clear, the check-in was easy and they made sure we gained entry and got started and on our way. The audio guide was excellent too.

It was fine. Could have been more friendly guides, the lady seemed stressed. Young kid was helpful. The audio app... seemed clunky didnt really use it.

The organization and punctuality was excellent. I chose the first access times and there was still a waiting line, so be patient. Finally, although the ticket included an elevator ride, we went up the stairs because the line was endless and there was no price adjustment at the entrance. I recommend going in the early hours as there are fewer people, even at 8:30 it took us to go up and I think if I had gone on my own it would have been the same time and cheaper, as directly at the box office the access by stairs was 8 euros and by elevator 10 euros, plus 5 euros for the audio guide and 5 euros more that we got from the snack were 18 or 20 euros, against the 30 euros I paid per person.
