From Athens: Temple of Poseidon & Cape Sounion Sunset Tour

The trip with the bus was a suprise, I could see a lot of the coastline. The hostess was friendly and charming, the experience of stepping in ancient steps amazing

The trip was organized and we left on time, with enough time to tour the place and take spectacular pictures and adequate time to watch the sunset.

Comfortable bus. No-one mentioned wifi on board . Was it available, I wonder? We had to get back at 19:40. I think staying another 10 minutes would have made the sunset complete. Why not give us an extra 10 minutes ? No reason really. The commentaries were minimal. So much so that few even thought of giving the guide a tip.... Anyway, a lovely site, and a lovely evening. Finally, it would have been right to mention that the excursion did not inclde the entrance ticket to the site. It is quite cheap anyway, but I was not expecting to have to queue again. Christina is a wonderful guide who is very entertaining and knowledgeable. The tour was great. I would recommend it to everyone.

Again, this was overpriced as most of the other tours in Athens, and the experience underwhelming and you spend ~3hrs on the bus in total. It's not really a human guided tour, you listen to it on a portable device on the1.5hr bus trip to the Cape Sounion. My audio device didn't work properly and kept going on and off, therefore I didn't get to enjoy the history. The AC on the outward journey was also not cold at all so it was a sweaty ride in 35c weather! We had just over 1.5hrs at Cape Sounion & Temple of Poisdedon which was more than enough time. The sunset view was breathtaking though!

The tour without entry ticket was 28, with ticket entry tour was 60....however the entry ticket was 10. Simple maths says 38 should of been charged

The drive to the city is very nice going right by the coast and the bus was comfortable and clean. We did not see much of the city but our destination was Temple of Posidon which was well worth the price and effort. Sunset tour was just right to catch the setting sun in between the pillars of the ancient ruins. I wish I had more time to spend at the site.

The guide was lovely, but when I asked at the office if my trip included a ticket to the temple, I was told yes! When I arrived, I was told no, I still had to get a ticket. No-one mentioned that the gates close at 8:30pm before sunset so when you go down to use toilet, you can't get back in. We arrived at 8pm, so that was not a lot of time at all. Told there would be so-goon bus, there was not!

I made this visit in June 2024. It's worth noting that the journey time is very long (1h30 to 2h on the outward journey alone) and you don't stay long on site. The guide on the bus is supposed to be an archaeologist, but we were mainly shown the beaches and tourist attractions, which for me had nothing to do with the history/archaeology aspect. What's more, I thought he'd tell us lots of stories about Greek mythology, but we were only told the well-known story of Theseus. Even one member of the group suggested other stories, but the guide ignored them. The guide didn't come with us to the site, so in the end we were given few details about the Temple of Poseidon, its features or its history. Once there, there's not much to do outside the temple. There is a café and a small store, but their offerings are very limited. This left me wanting more, and I don't think the experience is worth the price. There are more attractive prices offered by public transport in the area, and here the guide wasn't very helpful.

the guide! Angelina was very knowlegeable and nice. She summarized the most relevant stuff and put it into context for us.

Booked for a day out but if I had my time in athens again I would have probaby prioritised other things as whilst the setting of the temple is impresssive it's a long way and after youve seen the Parthenon this pales in to insignificance. We also had a grey /cloudy day so perhaps with a sunset it would have been better but alas for us not

Our host was fabulous- Angelina. I would highly recommend this trip to my friends. And the sunset... We really enjoyed.

Perfectly organized. Good friendly guide and excellent driver. It would have been better had the guide also accompanied the group up to the temple itself and say shown Byron's signature etc

Our tour guide Angelina was the best . She made the trip so interesting and made sure we are well informed. She was so helpful and offered to keep our food as we went to View the site. Not forgetting our driver John amazing trip indeed.

Adequate time at the temple of Poseidon, with excellent sunset

This excursion was just as expected.

I was charged for an entrance ticket even though when I went, they were offering free entry to the site.

It was great, i would 100% recommend
