Mother of Him features the talented Tracy-Ann Oberman who plays the role of Brenda Kapowitz, the protagonist. Oberman is well-known for her role in EastEnders as Chrissie Watts. She is also famous for her work on the sensational comedies Toast of London and Friday Night Dinner. Present Language, Printer Six, and Pack of Lies are some of the theatre credits that she has worked on with the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Evan Placey is a playwright from Canada who has won a plethora of awards such as the King’s Cross Award for New Writing, and was the Samuel Fench Canadian Play Contest Winner for 2011. Moreover, he is also the winner of the RBC Under 30 National Playwriting Competition by Tarragon Theatre. His notable works include Scaberia, Girls Like That, Holloway Jones, Consensual, and WiLd!.

This rousing drama is directed by Max Lindsay, who is debuting at Park Theatre. Plays like Angry, the Southwark Playhouse production, were spearheaded by him and have enjoyed massive success. He also also directed numerous shows at Nuffield Theatre. Lindsay and Placey have collaborated on projects several times, and are known for their excellent chemistry.

The Story

The play is based on a true story, and revolves around Brenda, a mother who has to juggle between her work life and her kids. Life is hard enough having to send Jason, her 8-year-old to school, while handling Matthew, her eldest son. Now, with Matthew being accused of odious crimes, and being placed on house arrest, Brenda is under more pressure than ever. The media surround her house, and Hanukkah is right around the corner. Can this mother prevent her family from falling apart while struggling to deal with her guilt? Find out in this gripping drama!
