your experience

Far from the madding London crowds, the Kew Gardens grant you a unique opportunity to relax and unwind. Take in deep lungfuls of the fresh air and stroll through the many different attractions of the Gardens, such as the Temperate House, which is the largest Victorian glasshouse in the world and hosts some of the rarest and most vulnerable temperate zone plants from all over the world. You can also see the Temperate Gardens, the orangery with its sweet-smelling citrus trees, the classical brick Kew Palace, and the 18-meter high Treetop Walkway. The Kew Gardens also boasts of two different art galleries, the Marianne North Gallery which displays art from around the world, and the Shirley Sherwood which contains botanical art. There is something for everyone in these beautiful gardens.

upcoming programming for 2021:

SECRET WORLD OF PLANTS

1 May (Sat) - 19 Sept (Sun)

Following a year spent largely indoors, this summer visitors will be invited to Kew Gardens to explore the Secret World of Plants. Large-scale, immersive ‘plantscapes’ representing diverse UK habitats, including coastal cliffs, moorland, and meadows, will celebrate the biodiversity on our doorsteps. A program of exciting art activities designed to capture the imagination will offer visitors a fresh perspective on the ‘wall of green’ that surrounds them, helping them to appreciate and protect the botanical gems to be found in their day-to-day environment.

JAPAN

2 Oct (Sat) - 31 Oct (Sun)

As fiery color sweeps across the Gardens, Kew will celebrate the flora and culture of Japan in a brand-new festival in the Temperate House. The festival will explore Japan through its fascinating horticultural traditions and wider practices, emphasizing the importance of the natural world and the concepts of beauty and harmony - the cornerstones of Japanese culture. Striking art installations highlighted Japanese trees boasting vivid autumn colors, and an impressive Bonsai collection will make this a festival worth exploring.
