Why Watch Miloš Karadaglić Live
Dubbed “classical music’s guitar hero,” Milos Karadaglic is one of the top talents to have come out of the Balkans. He began to play from the age of eight and slowly gained prominence until he was playing on national television and shows a few years later. At 16, Milos moved to London to study at the Royal Academy of Music. In 2015, he was appointed a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Music, perhaps the highest level of recognition of his skill. Milos’s music is greatly influenced by his musical idols Julian Bream and Andres Segovia. His first album, titled Mediterraneo, with a few elements depicting his Balkan roots.
Milos’s ability has been acclaimed across the world, and he is the first classical guitarist to have performed at the Royal Albert Hall in London. In 2016 BBC Music Magazine called him one of the top 6 classical guitarists of the last century. The amount of practice and effort that he puts into his rehearsals is unmatched, and the results are apparent on stage. Guitar concertos are extremely rare, and Milos is undoubtedly one of the very few artists today who can hold his own amidst a large orchestra.
The Dubai Opera is a massive concert hall that can seat up to 2000 people. Although he plays the classical guitar, Milos’s incredible ability ensures that the entire audience can hear his performance, without the use of an amplifier. His finger dexterity and strumming is incredible to witness in person as he plays one of the most challenging sequences of the famous Concierto de Aranjuez. Ensuring that it is audible to the audience, while also maintaining the energy of the orchestral performance requires incredible skill on the part of the conductor.
Additionally, Milos is a natural showman. He introduces songs with funny personal anecdotes and directly engages with the audience, similar to a rock or pop artist. He cracks witty jokes and shares the feelings that music inspires in him. All of this ensure that the fourth wall between the performers and the audience that is usually observed by solo classical artists is non-existent here. What makes the performance even more impressive is that Milos generally leads the way with his guitar, and the orchestra picks it up and acts like a resonating board for the guitar. The resulting harmony is magnificent to listen to, ensuring an unforgettable experience for you!

– The Guardian
