Witness the awe-inspiring performance put together by an immensely talented cast of musicians, stagehands, and ballet dancers at the David H. Koch Theatre in New York. The irresistible combination of Tchaikovsky's classic music and Balanchine's choreography make The Nutcracker one of the best shows to feature on Broadway.

Why Watch George Balanchine's Nutcracker

The painstakingly crafted props, the talented cast, and its popularity as one of the most loved stories in the world have made The Nutcracker one of the most sought-after shows this season. Rouben Ter-Arutunian's enchanting sets and Karinsk’s beautiful costume design add all the right flavours that make this show truly magical.

From the 85-pound costume of Mother Ginger to the 12-foot Christmas Tree that ends up growing to a whopping height of 41 feet, The Nutcracker holds nothing back when it comes to the sheer production value of the ballet. The show's trajectory from reality to complete fantasy makes it an entertaining watch for people of all ages.

The Story

Marie is gifted a lovely wooden nutcracker as a present one snowy Christmas Eve. She falls asleep beside the nutcracker after the Christmas party. She, however, wakes with a start, feeling that something is not right. And then, without warning, huge mice run into the room. The Christmas tree starts getting bigger and taller until it towers over the little girl. The contents of the room melt into darkness, and is then filled with her brother's toy soldiers and the Nutcracker, who is now alive and as large as Marie! The Nutcracker and his toy army march against the mice and their leader, the Mouse King. Watch Marie and the Nutcracker battle the mice and more, in the exciting and magical show!
