Join the famous Don Quixote (played by David Threlfall) on his romantic journey across post-medieval Spain. Savour one of the best presentations of a story that has evoked roars of laughter for about four centuries without ever going stale.

Why Watch Don Quixote

There are few stories that are as endearing and unforgettable as Cervantes' Don Quixote. With a wide range of theatrical devices ranging from comic props to puppetry, Angus Jackson has ensured that the stage is set to showcase the legendary Don Quixote. With a shaggy beard and twirled whiskers, David Threlfall embodies the deluded Quixote to comical perfection. He charges at windmills and perceives a flock of sheep as an army with characteristic stupidity and charm. His trusty squire Sancho Panza is expertly played by Rufus Hound, a performer who was hailed as an excellent fit for the part in the 2016 premier of the same show. While it is quite difficult to condense a story like Don Quixote into a 3-hour show, Angus Jackson manages to entertain the audience with James Fenton’s stage adaptation that remains loyal to the original book.

The Story

Don Quixote is intent on living the chivalrous life of a medieval knight after being inspired by his extensive collection of books about knighthood and medieval European values. He sets out into the Spanish countryside to mow down villainous bandits, save damsels in distress, and defend the good folk. He is accompanied by his faithful and simple-minded squire Sancho Panza on his romantic adventure. With every new encounter, Don Quixote dips further into utter utopian madness. Watching these familiar characters brought to life in this amazing play is certain to be an entertaining and enriching experience to the very last minute.
