Why Watch The Height of the Storm
Award-winning French author and playwright, Florian Zeller, has created a masterpiece yet again with The Height of the Storm. The Olivier Award-winner has even recently had three of his works playing at the West End simultaneously. The Height of the Storm is his first return to the London stage since. Jonathan Pryce and Dame Aileen Atkins are arguably the finest actors in their caliber and essay the roles of André and Madeleine in this play. WIth such a stellar cast and story, The Height of the Storm promises to be a tour-de-force at the West End.
André and Madeleine have been in love and married for 50 years. The weekend their daughters visit, however, something feels out of the ordinary. A bunch of flowers arrive from an unknown person, and a woman from the past turns up, but no one knows who she is. Moreover, André feels like he isn't there at all.
This beautifully compelling family drama is an intense exploration of family, loss and the fragility of life as seen through the relationship between the old couple and their children.
This is a clever play. So much so that you might feel you want to see it twice to understand it.
