Friends! The Musical Parody
FRIENDS! The Musical Parody is an extremely funny musical that satirizes the popular TV show FRIENDS! The musical is sure to make you laugh and cry with its deeply nostalgic feel. The show brings the classic sitcom to the stage with the crazy misadventures of a group of friends as they try and get through the ups and downs of life, love, and work in 1990s Manhattan.
Why Watch FRIENDS! The Musical Parody
If you are one of the many, many people who are huge fans of the classic 90s sitcom, F.R.I.E.N.D.S, then this is the perfect musical for you. The musical targets main plot points from the show's ten seasons such as the Rachel-Ross love story and Phoebe’s mother problem, and also includes the several famous guest star appearances that was the show's trademark. As a parody, the show pokes fun at several hard-to-believe aspects of the show, such as Monica being able to afford her large Manhattan apartment with a living room, a large kitchen, two bedrooms as well as a balcony! The musical takes you through a rollercoaster of emotions and brings back lovely memories of the beloved show.
On a seemingly ordinary day at Central Perk (the only coffee shop in New York), the gang is met by a beautiful runaway bride. Rachel, played by Patricia Sabulis, turns up at Monica’s after leaving her fiance at the wedding alter. In no time, she becomes a part of the gang. FRIENDS! The musical parodies every aspect of the show, including this one. Monica’s apartment isn’t the only part of the show that seems unrealistic - as Gunther points out, no one ever pays for anything anywhere, which only adds to the exaggerated parody and hilarity.
Without a doubt, any parody of Friends would be incomplete if it didn’t include Janice and her "Oh My God!". Seth Blum pulls this off brilliantly. While he isn’t playing the sarcastic Chandler, Seth magically transforms into Marcel the Monkey, Richard the ophthalmologist, Phoebe’s twin sister Ursula, and even Paolo the Italian! This is sure to leave you in splits.
