Two Family-Friendly Attractions Packed Into One Tour

The Cutty Sark is a great place to start the tour. Trained performers play the roles of the Cutty Sark’s former crew. Interacting with them is a great way to learn about the history of the ship and the trade routes on which it frequently sailed. The Greenwich Observatory offers many interesting attractions as well. The 0-degree line, John Harrison’s marine timekeepers, and the Astronomers’ Royal Apartments and Octagon Room of the Flamsteed House are great places to visit.

Take a Trip to the Past Aboard the Cutty Sark

The Cutty Sark has been restored to its full glory and raised a few feet above its dry dock to make it easier for visitors to appreciate every part of the vessel. Listen to the tales Nannie the Witch and Mrs. Ray, or meet the longest serving master of the clipper Captain Woodget. Take the wheel and try your hand at steering the lean clipper! You can also visit the museum below and find out more about the ship’s past.

Stand on the Iconic Prime Meridian

There are few experiences as exhilarating as gazing at the London skyline as you stand on the line that separates the Eastern and Western hemispheres. Admire Harrison’s ingenious marine clocks that drastically reduced the chances of sailors and cargo getting lost at sea. The Octagon Room and the Astronomers’ Apartments are intriguing areas to explore.
