Winner for Best Musical (2018 Outer Critics Circle & OBA Awards) and Outstanding Music & Lyrics (2018 Drama Desk Awards) to go along with 15 award nominations and excellent reviews! Desperate Measures is a witty and wild new musical comedy that takes Shakespeare's Measure for Measure and shakes things up!

Why Watch Desperate Measures

The musical is a loose Wild West themed adaptation of the play “Measure by Measure” by Shakespeare. The result is a hilarious experience where the fate of one man depends on the schemes of his sister and the sheriff. The musical is directed and choreographed by Bill Castellino, with music by David Friedman. The reviews don’t lie, and you will find yourself laughing gleefully at the antics and personalities of the protagonists in this musical.

The Story

The story is set in the Wild West where a hot-headed cowboy is currently sentenced to death after he kills someone in a bar fight. When his sister, a nun about to take her vows, approaches the Governor for mercy, he agrees but only if she sleeps with him. Unable to agree to the terms, she and a good-hearted sheriff come up with a brazen plan to safe her brother and avoid breaking her vows.
