Why You Shouldn’t Miss This
New York City is one of the most widely visited cities in the world. It attracts almost 61 million tourists across the world every year, and has a lot of sights for tourists, such as the Empire State Building, Times Square, Madison Square Park, and the United States Headquarters, among others.
What separates New York from the other tourist destinations of the world is that is does not have any particularly memorable history, unlike Rome or Prague. Media, however, has ensured that it is etched into our memories forever. It has developed as the quintessential business hub. Buildings were built for business purposes, and this philosophy is reflected in the skyscrapers that dot its skyline. The lack of historical monuments and locations has had no impact on the tourism.
New York has always strived to showcase the epitome of architectural feats. From architectural marvels such as the Empire State Building and Rockefeller Center to the opulent Statue of Liberty and massive Central Park, New York has a host of attractions, with something for everyone. As you catch sight of the famous New York skyline from the Brooklyn Bridge, the underlying serenity of this bustling city washes over you, and you begin to appreciate its splendor.
Once you reach the meeting points at the stipulated time, your tour will begin. The day tour will cover all the important locations of New York. You will take a tour of the 843 acre Central Park. Here you will see Strawberry Fields, a memorial dedicated to John Lennon and the famous mosaic tile with the words “IMAGINE” embossed on it. At one corner of the park you will observe the Columbus Circle, a monument to the explorer, Christopher Columbus. Across the road, the Lincoln Centre, a tastefully constructed complex of buildings dedicated to the performing arts and home to the New York City Opera and New York City Ballet, is a spectacular sight. You will pass the Dakota, the apartment building where John Lennon resided until his death in 1980. The next stop is at the massive St. John the Divine cathedral, the largest of its kind in New York. You will also get to see Grant’s Tomb and the neighborhood of Harlem. As the bus takes you along the East Side, you will see the famous Museum Mile on the Fifth Avenue, which consists of several prominent and culturally significant museums. High-end clothing labels also abound on the popular Fifth Avenue. You will then come across the Rockefeller Center, a series of commercial buildings with a massive plaza in the center. You will set sights on Madison Square Park and the Flatiron Building. True to its name, the Flatiron building is a steel-framed structure that has been dubbed the “quintessential symbol of New York City,” and once you lay eyes on it, it is easy to understand why. The tour will continue downtown, as you enter the neighborhoods of Greenwich Village and SoHo, which is a haven for several art galleries and lofts. Then you will come upon the infamous Ground Zero, the site of the September 11 attacks. The impressive United Nations headquarters is next on the itinerary.
