Know Before You Go
The Colosseum opens at 8:30 am, year-round. The closing time varies as follows:
5:00 pm from February 16 to March 15
5:30 pm from March 16 to last Saturday of March
7:15 pm from the last Sunday of March to August 31
7:00 pm from September 1 to September 30
6:30 pm from October 1 to last Saturday of October
4:30 pm from last Sunday of October to December 31
Palatine Hill and Roman Forum hours
Opens at 8:30am and closes one hour before sunset.
The Colosseum can be reached by metro line B, train line 3, or via buses 75, 81, 673, 175, and 204. If you’re coming from Rome’s Termini train station, the quickest and most efficient way to reach the Colosseum is by metro. If you prefer to get there by foot, it’s about a 30 minute walk from the train station.
Rules and restrictions
For safety and security reasons, no large backpacks or pieces of luggage are allowed inside the Colosseum.
Audio guides run for 1 hour and 10 minutes and are available in 14 languages. Please note, you will need to collect your audio guide from the ticketing office, located at Colosseum, before proceeding to the entrance.

How to Redeem your Tickets
• You will receive an email containing your ticket voucher.
On the day of your experience, display your voucher, via mobile device, along with a valid photo ID at the ticket box office located in the Colosseum square, across from the ‘Individual’s Entrance Gate’. Receive your tickets, head to the security check and proceed into the Colosseum. Please note, you may be required to wait in a short line at the box office.
• A host will present you with your physical ticket; be sure to hang on to it, as it also grants you entry at the Palatine Hill and Roman Forum.
Please note If you book a reduced price ticket, you will be asked to show proof of ID.
You may visit the Colosseum on the date and time of your reservation. However, entry to the Palatine Hill and Roman Forum is valid for two days. The Colosseum, Palatine Hill and Roman Forum all open daily at 8:30 am and close anywhere between 4:30pm and 7:15pm (one hour before sunset).
