After the prestigious Liszt Competition - a prestigious piano competition - this concert is a celebratory piece performed by the winner. The winner will play the following setlist.
Totentanz by Franz Liszt
Based on the Gregorian melody ‘Dies Irae’, this symphonic piece is played on the piano. Originally composed by Franz Liszt; ‘Totentanz’ is an ode to death - inspired by the Romantic age. Although the composition is old, the music comprises of many futuristic elements for its time and is considered timeless even today.
Symphony No. 3 by Robert Schumann
Popularly called ‘Rhenish’, this is the last symphony of Schumann. It comprises of five moments. Legend has it that the composition is inspired by a romantic getaway with his wife - which Schumann considered a pilgrimage.
