Date: Tuesday, July 4, 2017
Time: 7:30 PM- 9:50 PM
Venue: Main Hall, Het Concert Gebouw
Popular even after 200 years, Rossini’s ‘Il Barbier di Siviglia (The Barber of Seville)’ has proven to be one of the greatest masterpieces of comedy within music. First performed at the Teatro Argentina in Rome in 1816, its plot is based on Pierre Augustin’s 1775 play- Le Barbier de Seville. Set in Sevilla, Spain, it is the comic story of Count Almaviva who enlists the help of local barber and town fixer Figaro’s help in serenading his love, Rosina. A beautiful opera about youth and age, love and desire, Il Barbier di Siviglia is the complicated story of love.
Opera Zuid is a small Dutch opera company, founded in 1991. Working together with the philharmonic of southern Germany, Opera Zuid hires singers and the orchestra for each opera production.
