About The Show
About The Show
Nora Desmond has lived life has a huge silent-screen star. As those days are now in the past, she sits in her mansion on Sunset Boulevard in solitude, until Joe Gillis, an impoverished screenwriter on the run lands into her world. Norma is certain this is the moment to work on her “masterpiece”, a script that will launch her back into the spotlight she experienced in her youth, spurred by impoverished Gillis as he becomes seduced by her luxurious lifestyle. Find out what happens when he starts to feel oppressed and wants to break out of her clutches for the love of another woman.
"Sunset Boulevard" marks the return of long-time Broadway star Glenn Close, who won Tony Award for Best Actress for this very play in 1994! This play also features the largest orchestra ever in Broadway history, consisting of 40-pieces. In theaters with a limited engagement, witness as history repeats itself.
Critic's Reviews
Critic's Reviews
- "Watching Glenn Close completely enthral and mesmerise an audience with her two dramatic solos is a reminder that musical theatre is at its most thrilling when musical moments are enhanced by incisive acting..."
-- Michael Dale, BroadwayWorld
- "Close delivers as if no time has gone by at all. Joined by a 40-piece orchestra, we're privileged to witness theatre history in the making... It's not cliche to say that we can hear a pin drop during each number as she commands the spotlight in triumph."
-- David Gordon, Theatermania
