Old Appian Way Jewish Catacomb Walking Tour - Private Access
Know Your Tour
Discovered on the Old Appian Way in the 19th century, the Jewish Catacombs of Vigna Randanini are one of seven known complexes utilized for Jewish burials.
Closed to the general public today, your private tour gives you special access to the Catacombs, where you will see tombs carved into the soft volcanic stone of the area. The dead were placed in painted loculi, cubicula, and kokhims; which were the different types of tomb complexes. The kokhims set these tombs apart from their Pagan and Christian counterparts.
The tour will give you a chance to explore interesting inscriptions in Greek and Latin and intriguing marble epitaphs that the tombs are sealed with.
