St. Clemente & St. Giovanni E Paolo Church Walking Tour - Private Access
Know Your Tour
This private tour will take you to the Church of St. Clemente and St. Giovanni E Paolo.
The Church of St. Clemente, which is now underground, will give you a peek into the foundations on which Rome was built during a time when there was an overlap of diversity. Having undergone multiple modifications, this church has been around for centuries and also consists of a streambed of an ancient torrent called the ‘Clivus Labicanus’. It once flowed into the lake Nero, and is now occupied by the breathtaking Coliseum.
The Church of St. John and Paul, whose construction started only in the fifth century, has an intriguing history. Having been Roman houses in Celio once upon a time, this structure underwent a series of transformations to finally stand as it does today. This tour will show you that this is a perfect example of a pictorial conservation, found nowhere else in Rome.
