Watch this beloved Dickens classic come to life through Simon Callow's fantastic one-man performance. Christmas with the family wouldn't be complete without the iconic story of Scrooge and his miserly ways, a reminder that it's the holiday for togetherness and generosity.
Why Watch A Christmas Carol with Simon Callow
Why Watch A Christmas Carol with Simon Callow
Having written a biography of Dickens himself, Simon Callow, known for his roles in Four Weddings and a Funeral and Shakespeare in Love, returns to the stage after huge international success with The Mystery of Charles Dickens.
Simon Callow brings to the stage, once again, a one-man extravaganza of Charles Dickens’ much-loved A Christmas Carol, following the huge success of the show back in 2011-2012. A must watch for anyone between the age of 8 and 88, Callow and director-designer Tom Cairns recreate this heartwarming story in Callow’s own, unique style.
The Story
As the ghosts spirit Scrooge from the present to his past and future, Dickens takes us on a magical journey from the miser’s dank and creaking house to cosy hearths, and from snowy graveyards to joyful festivities. This treasured story offers a celebration of goodness, a plea for justice and the promise of redemption.

Critics Reviews
Callow has turned himself into something of a one-man show factory in recent years, having covered Shakespeare, Juvenal, Wagner and Judas with mixed success. He is innately suited to Dickens, though.
– The Stage
Simon Callow’s one-man take on the time-honoured narrative of Scrooge, returning after successful runs in festive seasons past, is a treat, with an engaging storytelling style that means we are instantly drawn in.
