Anastasia is the stunning stage production of the classic 1997 animated movie. Directed by Darko Tresnjak with scintillating music by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens, the musical is a beautiful rendition of the story of a young woman seeking to find a home, family, and love.
Why Watch Anastasia
Anastasia premiered on Broadway on April 24, 2017 and opened to packed audiences eager to watch the theatrical version of their favorite fairytale. The beautiful musical does justice to the movies and provides a mature perspective to the children’s tale, replete with political undercurrents and human characters instead of magicians and animals! The magnificent set designs, gorgeous costumes and stage effects bring back to life Paris and Russia in the 1920’s. The stellar performance of the lead actress with soulful music makes Anastasia a dream come true for adults seeking a succor from real life!
Anastasia is the story of Anya who impersonates the Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna, who was killed as a child during the Bolshevik Revolution. The musical is inspired from the 1997 animated movie and the 1956 Ingrid Bergman movie of the same name, ‘Anastasia’. Anya is an orphan in St. Petersburg who falls in the company of Dmitry and Vlad, who get her to pose as Anastasia to get a reward from her only relative, the Dowager Empress. The story explores political manipulations, romance and human frailties.
