The USS Intrepid played a massive role in the Pacific theatre of the Second World War and is hailed historically for surviving five kamikaze attacks and a torpedo strike. Before shifting to the San Francisco Bay in early 1946, the war vessel played a distinguished role in the Marshall Islands, Truk, Leyte Gulf and Okinawa.
The ship was armed with state-of-the-art planes and had a crew of over 3,000 sailors that won hard-fought victories against Imperial Japan. The theme of the tour centers around war and the role the ship played and hence is recommended for ages 12 and up as it may contain strong language and themes.
