Why Watch A Bronx Tale
A Bronx Tale is a compelling adaptation of the one-man show and 1993 movie of the same name. It premiered on Broadway in December of 2016. The stylish musical takes audience members back to the era of mobsters and mafia with a rousing score accompanied by emotionally charged characters who struggle to find balance in their relationships. Despite the musical’s rugged theme, rife with violence and crime, the production strikes a sentimental chord. In the glorious tradition of mafia stories, this is one musical that you do not want to miss!
A classic story of conflicting ideals, A Bronx tale follows the journey of Calogero, a young boy caught in the middle of his desire to become a part of the criminal world despite his father’s wishes for him to live an honest life. When Calogero is taken under the wing of Sonny, the local mob boss, the temptations lure him even deeper. The story gets more complicated when Calogero falls for his classmate. Amidst the prevailing tensions of social and economic turbulence, Calogero must find himself and choose between the two worlds he is caught in between.
