Why You Shouldn’t Miss This
The Colosseum is one of Italy’s most popular destinations, attracting over 5 million visitors every year. Believed to have been constructed as a gift from ancient emperors to the Roman people, this grand outdoor amphitheater once served as the epicentre for entertainment, hosting various public spectacles and games. A stage for gladiator fights, often including animals, the Colosseum has quite the bloody past. Step back in time, marvel at the impressive architecture and walk the floor of the greatest arena known to mankind.

After meeting your tour guide at the designated meeting point, make your way to the Colosseum and bypass the long entry line with your priority access entry tickets. Hear tales that shock and entertain as your guide leads you to the underground area, off limits to other visitors. Walk the footsteps of gladiators who once awaited their turn to be hoisted onto the floor for their turn to fight. After making your way through the tunnels, head to the arena floor. Walk out onto the stage where the fighting took place years ago and witness the most impressive view of the Colosseum from your VIP vantage point.
Next, venture by foot along the Via Sacrato and walk the ancient path that Romans once used every day as you head into the Roman Forum. Visit the Arch of Constantine, temple of Vesta, Antonino and Faustina. Marvel at the Basilica Julia and Aemilia, and imagine what Rome was once like thousands of years ago. Your guide will bring the sites to life with tales of love, betrayal, and larger-than-life characters (Caesar, Cleopatra & Marc Antony to name a few).
Last but not least, follow your guide to the top of Palatine Hill where you’ll enjoy one of the city’s best vantage points. Here, discover the hill where Rome was originally founded. Legend has it that this is the spot where Remus and Romulus were found by the shewolf. A major battle followed, which was ultimately the deciding factor as to who got to build their town there. Explore ruins of the Flavian Palace and Stadium of Domitian, as well as the legendary Hut of Romulus and discover how Palatine Hill lives on as a major influential archaeological site.
