Why You Shouldn't Miss the Louvre Museum
The Louvre Museum is the biggest art museum in the world and also the second most visited. What makes The Louvre special is that it not only aims at collecting and exhibiting some of the most iconic and important works of art in our history, but it has managed to do so across cultures, civilizations and our existence timeline. From Egyptian artifacts that are 4,000 years old to modern works of art from Oriental artists, the Louvre has been the honorary arbiter of our artistic heritage.
There are over 380,000 exhibits (with 35,000 currently on display) in the Louvre Museum. These are spread over 8 curatorial departments - Egyptian Antiquities; Greek, Etruscan, and Roman Antiquities; Near Eastern Antiquities; Islamic Art; Decorative Arts; Sculpture; Paintings; Drawings and Prints. As you gaze at these works of art, you aren’t just looking at paintings but emblems of our history. Going through the galleries of The Louvre is an experience that everyone must experience once in their lifetime.

Such an amazing museum with so much to see. We spent 3-4 hours there and only saw around 1/3 of it. If you're on a fixed schedule, I'd recommend using the audio guide which offers a Masterpiece Tour. That way you can see all the main attractions in the time you have.
Visited Louvre with a 9 year old. It was large, as expected, so picked the parts we wanted to see. Recommend the audio guide to get more out of the visit. The lines were not too bad.
