Sistas made its debut in 2011, and has since won the hearts of both audiences and critics. With a playlist that includes some of the biggest stars - Billie Holiday, Jill Scott, and Beyonce - this musical is guaranteed to keep you glued to your seat!

Why Watch Sistas the Musical

Helmed by Kenneth Ferrone (of Hi, Hitler! fame), and supported with an extremely talented cast, Sistas the Musical takes you on a musical journey. Set in the attic of a recently passed matriarch of an African-American family, the musical traces the history of African-American women through its music - starting from the struggles in 1930s to empowerment in the 1990s, be prepared for quite the ride!

The Story

Sistas is an uplifting story of a multi-generational African-American family. The musical begins with the death of the family matriarch. As her three daughters, one daughter-in-law, and one granddaughter start cleaning out her attic they find a lifetime of memories. Told through the life and experiences of one woman and the women in her family, the story covers a range of topics from segregation, the women's movement, to the meaning of love and empowerment.
