George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker - Tickets

The School of American Ballet is back with their breathtaking annual Christmas performance. Watch the ballet come to life with soul stirring music by Peter Ilyitch Tschaikovsky, Balanchine’s choreography, and Karinska’s elegant costumes. Considered one of the most complex theatrical productions of all time, George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker is a two-act performance, perfect for the holiday season.

Why watch George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker

Comprising of a whopping crew of 90 dancers, 62 musicians, 32 stagehands and two casts of 50 young students from the School of American Ballet, George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker captivates people from around the world year after year. Apart from its soul stirring background score, the play is also known for its elaborate stage elements, intricate lightings and thought provoking strands that make the viewing experience an extraordinary one. Be stunned by the 40-foot Christmas tree, or giggle at the comic Mother Ginger, whose 85 pounds and nine feet wide costume was a challenge.

    The Story

Teleport yourself to a world full of marching toy soldiers, giant Christmas trees, magical flowers, dancing snowflakes and the Land of Sweets! As the clock strikes midnight, a brave little girl turns the tide in a battle between toy soldiers and mischievous mice. Witness a blizzard of ballerinas accompany her on the journey, with breathtaking ballet, sparkling costumes and soulful music. Will she succeed in her endeavours?

“This ballet is a perennial entertainment, with more than enough theatrical detail to merit repeated viewings, more than enough layers of embedded history and emotional depth to fascinate again and again.”
    – The New York Times
“This version (of George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker), as it settles into its long run, deserves to be enshrined in memories.”
