Osaka Dotonbori Entertainment Show GOTTA
GOTTA is a non-verbal musical comedy about the food in Osaka, with a star cast dressed as your favorite meals.
Why Watch GOTTA
The story follows characters inspired by Dotonbori's signature food- Takoyaki Nojo, Miss Crêpe, Ramen Drummer, Fugu Saburou, and Kushikatsu Baron. These food spirts exist happily in a world of their own, until food from overseas begins to make an appearance, causing a clash between the old and new. A romantic affair between Takoyakinojo and Miss Crepe triggers the dispute, and plenty of conflict ensues. This awakens the dreaded monster Yoku (greed), who begins to devour everything in his path. The members of GOTTA leave their own conflicts behind and join forces to fight the monster. What will become of them?
This long-running food musical GOTTA is set in the gourmet street of Dotonbori. It is written and directed by Sawako Kitabayashi, praised for adapting Japanese traditional arts for the modern age in a fresh, new way. Her current stage show “Gotta” mixes 270° projection mapping with elements of classical Kabuki drama, tap dance, Japanese drum, and shamisen. With unique audience participation elements, this show is a completely new theatrical experience.
