Why You Should Watch Attila
Attila’s thirst for conquest, riches, and blood knows no bounds. As the Hunnic hordes ride across Europe, pillaging and annihilating all those who stand against them, a Roman general named Ezio hopes to stop the bloodthirsty Attila in his tracks. Ezio and a young knight named Foresto plot the downfall of Attila. Foresto’s fiancee, Odabella, who is now one of Atilla’s slaves, also has her own plan for vengeance and regicide. Will Attila be fooled by the charm of Odabella? Will he fall to the blade of Ezio? Who will strike first?
From the low drone of the cellos to the macabre lighting and set pieces, Atilla manages to brilliantly capture the strife of the dark ages in Europe. With veteran conductor Renato Palumbo, who is widely known as a ‘Verdi specialist’, and International Opera Awards nominee Davide Livermore at the helm of the production, it is certain to be compelling and memorable. Anna Pirozzi will play Odabella, and the winner of the 2011 Internet Music Competition Taras Berezhansky will portray Atilla.
