Witness a gripping tale about finding purpose in a complicated and cruel world. Catch Amit Sharma’s all-new version of Winsome Pinnock’s play that explores human relationships and sparks a much-needed conversation of mental health!

Why Watch One Under

Written by award-winning playwright Winsome Pinnock, One Under is themed around guilt and outlines the story of a man looking to make amends for a tragic accident. Pinnock has been called the godmother of black British playwrights and is renowned for her incredible theatre work in a career spanning more than 30 years. One Under is produced by Graeae, who are known for encouraging deaf and disabled artists to take the center stage, and the production evokes the all-important discussion about mental health and invisible disabilities. The creative use of audio descriptions and captioning for all performances are unique and make for a new theatre experience.

The Story

Cyrus is the driver of the tube train. Sonny throws himself under the wheels of the train following a soulless love tryst with Christine. Cyrus is riddled with guilt at the tragic incident and is determined to find the exact reasons for his suicide. He meets several people on his quest, who recount their stories, as he attempts to piece together the truth about the fateful night. Will Cyrus be successful in this seemingly impossible endeavor of getting closure about the death of Sonny?
