Why Watch Pinkalicious
Based on the bestselling book by Elizabeth and Victoria Kann of the same name, Pinkalicious is centered around a girl named Pinkalicious Pinkerton. The books were praised for the ability to keep children engrossed, and the colorful illustrations and artwork were considered a feast for the eyes. The musical continues to keep these elements intact, and are a massive hit with children. The director, Teresa Pond, has turned the story into a witty and melodic musical that has a wonderful takeaway message. The choreography is spot on, and the clever combinations aid in character development, while still being able to advance the story. The performance is light and sweet throughout and is never bogged down by overt sentimentality. The Vital Theatre Company is in charge of the production. Their productions have been acclaimed for being some of the best to introduce kids to the beauty of live theatre. Since their founding in 1999, they have gone on to present more than 100 original productions, entertaining thousands from across the world!
Pinkalciious Pinkerton lives in the city of Pinkville along with her family. Her favourite colour is pink and she absolutely loves eating pink cupcakes, although her parents warn her against eating too much in one sitting. One day, Pinkalicious consumes too many cupcakes despite her parents’ warnings and is forced to visit the doctor. She is diagnosed with Pinkitis, an illness that causes her to become completely pink. Initially, she doesn’t mind at all, since it is her favorite color after all. In fact, it is a dream come true for her! However, when things go too far, she must find a way to stop it. Has Pinkalicious’ penchant for sugar morphed into a crazed obsession? Will she have to sacrifice anything to get out of her predicament?
